Exciting opportunity to be involved in regional planning and a wide variety of transportation studies. In particular, this position will be involved in transit planning, transit program administration, and state and federal transit programs. The position will also serve as a primary coordinator with bus and rail service operators. Opportunity to take an increasingly independent responsibility and to gain a wide variety of experience in such areas as transportation finance, development of the Regional Transportation Plan, program administration, and consultant contract management. Offers the opportunity for extensive involvement with other public agencies and interaction with the public.
Education and Experience:
Regional Planner Level: Bachelor’s degree as noted above and one year performing technical planning studies; or A.A. degree in fields noted above and three years performing technical planning studies including GIS.
Associate Planner Level: Bachelors in urban planning, community development, public policy or closely related field and two years of experience comparable to a Regional Planner. Master’s may substitute for one year of experience.

Under general direction to perform the more complex professional planning assignments in the County Public Health and Community Development Department. To develop planning studies, environmental reviews, community design, and general plan preparation; to assist with planning policy formulation and implementation; to perform zoning enforcement; to explain Planning ordinances, regulations and policies to the public; and to do related work as required.
Knowledge of general theory, principles, and practices of land use planning and their application to a variety of planning problems. Purposes and procedures of public planning agencies, boards, and governing bodies. Laws, rules, regulation and policies affecting land use and zoning. Research methods and statistical analysis. Environmental impacts of changes in land use. Graphic illustration and presentation. Computers and software used in professional planning work.
Training and Experience: One year responsible work experience in performing professional planning work comparable to that of an Assistant Planner with Siskiyou County. Education equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with major work in planning or a closely related field, is highly desirable.

The City of Stanton is seeking a qualified individual to perform a full range of advanced level professional duties in support of the Community Development Department and Redevelopment Agency. Responsibilities include oversight of development related projects, preparation of planning reports/recommendations and providing responsible staff assistance to management, various commissions and City Council.
